Buttery Croissant Hot Dogs: An Easy Gourmet Twist
Croissant Hot Dogs
Croissant Hot Dogs
Ingredients
- Oil for grilling (vegetable)
- One 11-oz. package of Nathan's Angus Beef hot dogs
- 4 pre-made croissants
- Optional toppings: white onion (finely diced), relish, yellow mustard, and ketchup
Instructions
Step 1
Fire up your grill or heat a grill pan over medium-high heat for about five minutes. Give your grates a quick scrub and lightly oil them so we don't have any sticking. Place four hot dogs on the heat and grill them for about 3 minutes per side. Turn them occasionally until they're warmed all the way through and have those beautiful, charred grill marks you're looking for.
Step 2
Grab your favorite serrated knife for this part. Gently slice each croissant lengthwise, making sure to leave a small hinge of bread at the bottom so your hot dog stays snugly tucked inside. You'll want to create a wide, open pocket that's just deep enough to hold your toppings without splitting the pastry. Once you've got those beautiful buttery pockets ready, set them aside on your baking sheet.
Step 3
Carefully slice your warm croissants lengthwise, making sure not to cut all the way through so you have a cozy little pocket. Nestle your hot dogs inside the buttery folds, pressing them in gently to keep everything secure. Now you can go wild with your favorite toppings. Swirl on some tangy mustard or a drizzle of ketchup, and feel free to add a sprinkle of relish for a bit of crunch.

My Tip
Try lightly toasting the inside of your sliced croissants in a pan with a bit of butter before adding the hot dogs. This adds a lovely crunch and keeps the bread from getting soggy once you add your ketchup and mustard!
Leftovers
Pop any leftovers in a sealed container for up to three days in the fridge. To get that golden croissant crust back, we recommend warming them in a toaster oven or air fryer for a few minutes.
Make It Your Own
Try swapping the beef hot dogs for grilled bratwurst and replacing the ketchup with a dollop of spicy brown mustard for a hearty, German-inspired twist.
